Welcome back to the U13B 2024/25 tryouts - 2nd Skate!
After a successful 1st tryout skate on April 21st, we will return this Wednesday (May 1st) for 6pm at the Sutton arena.
As we continue with tryouts in a few days, I am looking for the athletes to demonstrate their compete levels during every drill and battle, show their hockey sense and how they execute the tryout drills. The willingness to put the team before themselves will be important to the coach and evaluators. There will be some cuts after the 2nd tryout skate.
For the upcoming season, some of the items added to our year long program will be:
*Off-ice / dry-land training program throughout the season
*Power & edgework skating coach
*Team system & strategies implemented in more detail
*On average, two practices per week - one dedicated to team systems & the other for skills/skating
*4 tournaments (not including Provincials) - 2 'away' & 2 'local'
*Guest instructors out occasionally for practice focusing on specific skills
*End of August training camp for the entire team
The final team will be selected not later than 11:30am Saturday May 4th. But, I will be aiming to finalize everything late Friday evening (May 3rd) if we can. Players who are released from the team will receive an email advising them of the final decision.
The team will be holding our first practice on Sunday May 5th at 4:30pm (Ice Palace). At 3:15pm on May 5th, we will be having a team signing where all the players will sign their Offer of Commitment. Following the practice and around 5:45pm, we will have a quick initial parent meeting so we can introduce ourselves and give a quick seasonal review.
Finally, other important dates to keep in mind are:
*Thursday May 9th @ 5:30pm - 2nd team practice (Ice Palace)
*Sunday May 12th @ 3:30pm - Exhibition game vs Stouffville Stars U13B (Ice Palace)
